All Sensbi devices work with Amazon Alexa, so you can turn lights on, adjust your thermostat, check your camera or arm your alarm just by asking. Setting it up takes about five minutes. Here is how.
Before you start
- Your Sensbi devices are already added and working in the Smart Life app (or the Sensbi app on Android). If you still use the Sensbi app on iOS, read our guide on migrating to Smart Life first.
- You have an Amazon account and the Amazon Alexa app installed on your phone.
- Your Echo (or other Alexa device) is set up and online.
Step 1: Enable the Smart Life skill
- Open the Alexa app and tap More in the bottom-right corner.
- Tap Skills & Games, then search for Smart Life.
- Tap Enable to use.
If you use the Sensbi app on Android, search for the Sensbi skill instead. Either skill connects to the same account and devices.
Step 2: Link your account
- After enabling the skill, Alexa will ask you to sign in. Use the same email and password you use in the Smart Life (or Sensbi) app.
- Make sure the country/region matches the one you chose when you created the app account, otherwise linking will fail.
- Tap Authorize. You should see a confirmation that the skill was successfully linked.
Step 3: Discover your devices
Tap Discover Devices when prompted, or simply say “Alexa, discover devices.” Alexa will scan for about 45 seconds and then list every Sensbi device from your app account. Each device keeps the name you gave it in the app, so it helps to use short, clear names such as “Kitchen light” or “Hallway thermostat”.
Step 4: Try a few commands
- “Alexa, turn on the kitchen light.”
- “Alexa, set the living room thermostat to 22 degrees.”
- “Alexa, show me the front door.” (on an Echo Show, for Sensbi cameras and doorbells)
- “Alexa, turn off everything.” (if you have created a group)
Tips for a better experience
- Create groups. In the Alexa app, group devices by room so “Alexa, turn off the bedroom” controls everything there at once.
- Use routines. Alexa Routines let you chain actions, for example “Alexa, good night” can lock the door, arm the alarm and switch off all lights.
- Mix brands freely. Because Sensbi devices use the Tuya platform, they sit alongside other Alexa-compatible products in the same groups and routines.
Troubleshooting
- Alexa can’t find a device: check that it is online in the Smart Life app, then run “Alexa, discover devices” again.
- Account linking fails: double-check the region setting and that you are using the app account, not your Amazon account.
- Renamed a device and Alexa still uses the old name: in the Alexa app, remove the device and discover again.
- Device shows as unresponsive: power-cycle the device and your router, then try again.
